Every time we eat at J&Rs the meal has been great. I am a Veteran so the special deal and treatment of Veterans is a really nice perk.
We had the best waiter Kathy and the food was amazing !
If you find a place where the food is always great, service staff friendly & helpful, and best yet great prices and for Veterans specialty menu as well as discounts....why go anywhere else? We have gone to other J&R's and can never beat the Islip Steak house for large sized meals, appetizers, side dishes, and prices by today's standard restaurant tab absolutely affordable. I hate to rate this so high because our favorite place after bowling will probably cause us to wait for a table, but the staff and owner honestly deserve the rating.
Once again Billy never disappoints. My family and I go usually every Thursday. We go in and he always remembers what we like to drink and brings it to the table. Kathy is always a nice and friendly lady. Always says hello. The staff always pleasant and always helps with any requests. It’s always nice to know everytime will be great. The prime rib I always get and always cooked perfectly. Antonio is a great chef and never disappoints.
always go with my military veterans and wives. Love the food . can't beat the prices.
I love the food at this place. Definitely, worth the wait! Only complaint is the salads, Lettuce, tomato's, cucumber would be great.
Went to your steakhouse Saturday in islip to celebrate a friends birthday i normally go to the one in calverton but he lives in islip so this was the one. Upon arrival the seating was quick and courteous and the food as always was delicious the specials were great and we all had a great time especially that a lot of guys were veterans and former law enforcement but the reason i am taking the time to write is because of a waitress named alexca she was very professional and polite her concern about how we were and her prompt detail to our comfort was exceptional she showed concern over our every need and focused on making sure our orders were correct. I spoke to her manager mr devon and told him my comments he also was a gentleman but i told him i wished this young lady could always be our waitress and i hope she gets recognized for her work. If i was a undercover boss she would be the manager or more than a waitress. Thank you and keep up the great work. As a law enforcement supervisor i believe in giving recognition and awards when due. Thank you again
Started off with a negative when we were told to wait outside until the rest of our party arrived - NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. Tell people to feel free to sit at the bar. Our server, Alexa, had a smile as big as the sun. Our table asked lots of questions and Alexa answered all questions. One of our drinks came out with no liquor in it. Prime rib was supposed to be rare and came out medium. She didn't blink an eye, took care of everything, and never forgot to smile and couldn't apologize enough. You are a gem, Alexa. If we do decide to come back it will be because of our experience with you. Thanks again for everything Alexa.
Today we had a 60th Birthday for my brother. J and R s Steakhouse was very accommodating.
The food was plentiful and our server Cathy was so nice . She works her butt off .Thank you for making this occasion so nice .Billy was helpful as well with the planning.
I ate in the bar, the bartender ' Grace' & busboy Jose Rivas were on top of things from the get go, doing their work in a professional, friendly, and polite manner, even the manager stopped by twice. I had lobster bisque and the 16 oz. marinated rib eye with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked medium rare, just like l wanted, and the potatoes had plenty of garlic. I also had a Hofbrau-Hefe Weizen beer ( on the sweetish side as l asked for) came in a nice sized mug. My complaints; the bisque had fake fish in it, if you ain't gonna use real lobster, leave it plain, and they could've been more generous with the sherry. The mashed potatoe serving was not generous, more would've been better. And while there was J & Rs sauce and A-1 sauce they didn't have Worstershire sauce, which is what l like on my steak. Minor complaints, the meal was good, the price reasonable and l'll go back, next time for the pot roast.
